How to arrive to Ensenada:

There is a 4-lane toll highway that leads from the border crossing point in Tijuana to Ensenada. The drive from San Diego to Ensenada takes about 90 minutes by car.

1) From US to Ensenada via San Diego:

There is good transportation infrastructure between San Diego and Ensenada, although it is necessary to switch transportation when crossing the border. There are several options to go from San Diego airport or downtown San Diego to Ensenada. These include driving a rental car, using the public transportation system or riding taxis.

Driving to Ensenada:
If you are driving by car to Ensenada, be sure to get an insurance that covers for the days you will be in Mexico.

The main port of entrance into Mexico is right at the end of the Interstate I-5. At this point you go through a signal that randomly gives you a green light, meaning you can pass, or a red light, meaning you have to pull over to have your car searched. It is illegal in Mexico to have firearms. Once you pass the border station, you follow the signs to Ensenada. The 4-lane highway has three tollbooths distributed along the 100 km road. There is a $2.40 USD. toll at each one.

Using public transportation:
There are two stages: from San Diego to the border and then to Ensenada. If you arrive to San Diego airport, you can take a bus to downtown San Diego, and from there take a tram that takes you to the border. If you prefer a more direct route, a taxi can take you from the airport to the border for about $45.00 USD. At the border, you cross it on foot and right on the other side you can take a bus to Ensenada. This is a 150-yard walk. The buses depart from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the cost is about $17.00 USD.

Another option is to hire a van from San Diego all the way to Ensenada. This is a more expensive option that can be affordable if several passengers share the ride.

2) From Tijuana via Mexico City.

If you arrive to Tijuana airport via Mexico City, there is a bus service to Ensenada just there. The cost is about $17.00 USD. The bus is easily identified, it is red and it has in there side the legend "Aeropuerto". Once in Ensenada bus station, a taxi can take you to the Hotel, it costs around $11.00 USD.

3) The Hotel also offers a transportation service Between San Diego or Tijuana to the Hotel.
